Yogasādhaki Yogachārini Sangeeta Laura Biagi (aka Dr.B) was born and raised in Siena, Italy. Dr.B has traveled the world since an early age. She moved to New York City in 1998 to earn a Master and Ph.D. from the Department of Performance Studies at New York University. In NYC, she studied performance composition, voice, movement and theatre for social change with Richarch Schechner, Meredith Monk, Pauline Oliveros, Ione, Denise Stoklos, and Augusto Boal.
In 2009, Dr.B moved to India, to train as a yoga teacher in the tradition of Yogamaharishi Dr. Swami Gitananda Giri at the Center for Yoga Education and Research. She lived in India in the home of the guru, the gurukulam, for two years and was blessed with the titles of Yogasadhaki and Yogacharini (true seeker and teacher of truth). In the fall of 2012, she releases with her teacher, Yogacharya Dr. Ananda Balayogi Bhavanani, the CD “Chanting the Yoga Sutra of Patanjali,” a full recitation in Sanskrit of the sutra. In 2013, she co-wrote, with Dr. Bhavanani, the book “Saraswati’s Pearls: Dialogues on the Yoga of Sound.” Dr.B has been incorporating contemplative practices in her work ever since, with the hope to help humanity evolve and transcend suffering.
Dr.B is also a graduate of the Sound Healing Program at New York Open Center and a trained instructor for the BUILD Diversity, Inclusion and Equity Training with the Office of Institutional Diversity and Equity at DePaul University in Chicago. She has taught and lectured as a faculty and guest speakers at prestigious institutions such as New York University, Vassar College, The Theatre School at DePaul University, the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Xavier University of Louisiana, the New York Open Center and more.
